Constant climate chamber HPPeco

Climate chamber

Maximum energy efficiency in continuous operation – tailor-made for stability studies according to ICH guidelines, stability tests for cosmetics and foods as well as environmental testing and material testing.

Maximum energy efficiency compared to climate chambers with a compressor.

Absolutely homogeneous distribution of temperature and humidity.
Reliable and fail-safe, even after years of continuous operation.
Always a good climate: refrigerant-free, smooth running, compact, low-maintenance.

A new dimension of energy efficiency and precision
Constant climate chamber | Advanced Peltier Technology

This powerful climate chamber with Advanced Peltier Technology has more than earned the ‘eco’ epithet. In continuous operation, it works around 90% more energy efficiently than compressor-cooled devices, does not require any refrigerant and is therefore nearly maintenance-free. The temperature control from +0 °C to +70 °C as well as the active humidification and dehumidification from 10% to 90% rh in the HPPeco are optimally tailored to the requirements of stability tests in pharmaceutical industry (Q1A). Due to its quiet operation the compact constant climate chamber is also suitable for breeding insects or zebra fish.

  • Temperature range from +0 °C up to +70 °C
  • 7 model sizes (108 to 2140 litres volume)
  • 1 model variant: TwinDISPLAY
  • Digitally controlled active humidification and dehumidification up to 90% rh
  • double doors as standard with fully insulated stainless steel. Inside glass: prevention of contamination and drops or rises in temperature.
  • An optimal view of the sensitive load through wide-area interior glass doors (size 1400/2200 stainless steel doors with glass sector; sizes 750, 1060 and 1400 two leaves, size 2200 three leaves) are possible.

Unique homogeneity of temperature and humidity

The high-precision control guarantees a homogeneous and stable distribution of temperature and humidity across various parameters. With the new micro-dosing pump and smart control, the interior of the HPPeco is delicately and quickly humidified. In addition, a Peltier-based dehumidification system ensures the climate is precisely controlled even at low relative humidity levels. This provides constant climatic conditions in the chamber even when the test material emits moisture.

Optional illumination unit for constant climate chamber HPPeco

If you select the light module option, you can also use this uniquely precise climate chamber for applications such as seed germination, plant cultivation or breeding of zebra fish or insects, especially Drosophila breeding, under a constant climate and under daylight conditions. As an alternative, you can choose cold white light (6,500 Kelvin) or a combination of cold white and warm white light (2,700 Kelvin), dimmable in steps of 1%.

Temperature setting range from 0 ℃

The Peltier-cooled climate chamber HPPeco is specifically designed for stability studies according to ICH guidelines (Q1A) as well as stability tests for cosmetics and food. With the large working range ascending from the freezing point, the climate chamber is also ideal for working materials testing and environmental tests in industry.

Product Specifications

Areas of Use

The Memmert HPPeco is built for continuous operation under stable climatic conditions — with no compressor and no refrigerant. It is optimised for the ICH Q1A stability zones but covers a wide span of industrial and research applications. Typical applications include:

  • Stability testing of pharmaceuticals to ICH Q1A (25 °C / 60 % rh and 40 °C / 75 % rh)
  • Stability testing of cosmetics and foodstuffs
  • Environmental and material testing in industry
  • Insect breeding, Drosophila in particular, under constant climate
  • Zebrafish breeding under controlled daylight conditions (with light module)
  • Seed germination and plant cultivation (with light module)
  • Climate testing and accelerated ageing trials
  • Long-term stability testing running continuously for months or years

Advantages

Around 90 % more energy-efficient than compressor-cooled units
In continuous operation the HPPeco draws far less power than an equivalent chamber with a conventional compressor. An HPP410eco runs at roughly 700 W. Over a year of round-the-clock operation, that difference is substantial — and continuous operation is exactly what a stability study looks like.

No compressor, no refrigerant
The HPPeco is entirely compressor-free and uses no refrigerant. The result is close to maintenance-free operation, no compressor noise, and no climate impact from refrigerant leakage.

Unique temperature and humidity homogeneity
Advanced Peltier technology combined with the micro-dosing pump and smart control gives very even distribution of temperature and humidity throughout the chamber — even when the test material itself releases moisture.

Peltier-based dehumidification
The Peltier cold-trap dehumidification system gives precise climate control even at low relative humidity, down to 10 % rh. This is where many competing chambers struggle.

HeatBALANCE for even distribution
The heating output can be redistributed between the upper and lower heating circuits from −50 % to +50 %, which lets you compensate for an uneven load or an awkward installation without moving samples around.

Optional light module for biological work
With the light module (cold white 6,500 K, warm white 2,700 K, or a combination) the HPPeco handles seed germination, plant cultivation, insect breeding and zebrafish under programmed day/night cycles, dimmable from 0 to 100 % in 1 % steps.

Suited to insect and zebrafish breeding
Quiet, vibration-free operation makes the HPPeco a good fit for sensitive organisms such as Drosophila and zebrafish, where compressor noise and vibration would affect results.

GMP/GLP validation and full documentation
Complete IQ/OQ/PQ documentation available. FDA-compliant AtmoCONTROL (21 CFR Part 11). DAkkS calibration available.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

In continuous operation — which is what a stability study is — the HPPeco draws far less power than a compressor-cooled chamber. An HPP410eco is rated at roughly 700 W, against typically 3,000–5,000 W for an equivalent compressor chamber. Across a year of unbroken operation the difference in electricity cost is considerable.

Yes, for sizes 110 to 1060. Long-term (25 °C / 60 % rh), intermediate (30 °C / 65 % rh) and accelerated (40 °C / 75 % rh) all sit inside the working range. Sizes 1400 and 2200 have a narrower range with humidity (+15 to +60 °C, 10–80 % rh) and suit the long-term and intermediate zones best.

Yes, and it is worth checking before you order. Without humidity the range is 0 to +70 °C. With humidity it starts at +5 °C. With the light module in use the working range narrows to +15 to +40 °C. All the standard ICH zones fit comfortably, but sub-5 °C work with humidity control is not possible.

It doses water to the humidifier in very small, precise amounts. That gives faster response to humidity changes and more stable humidity over time — which matters most when the test material itself gives off moisture and would otherwise destabilise the chamber climate.

Yes. Quiet, vibration-free operation plus the programmable light module (day/night cycle with 0–100 % dimming) makes it well suited to Drosophila, zebrafish and other cultures sensitive to noise, vibration and light programming. Note the light module is available for sizes 110 to 750, and the working range with light is +15 to +40 °C.

The HPPeco is optimised for continuous long-term climate control with the emphasis on energy efficiency, and comes in a wider range of sizes, up to 2140 litres. The ICHL is optimised for photostability testing to ICH Q1B option 2 with cold white light and UV lamps. For ICH Q1A stability testing alone, the HPPeco is the better choice.
