Perfect environmental simulation in the humidity chamber
Climate chamber with active humidity control

This climate chamber offers the full range of comfort, reliability, and safety. It has active humidity control set from 20 % to 95 % rh and an unsurpassed homogeneity of temperature and humidity over the entire interior. It is suited for environmental testing, environmental simulation, accelerated service life tests, and 85/85 tests according to IEC 60068-2-67 and IEC 60068-2-78.

  • Temperature range up to +90 °C
  • 4 model sizes (56 to 241 litres volume)
  • 1 model variant: TwinDISPLAY
  • Active humidity control 20 to 95 % rh
  • Double doors as standard:
  • 1. Prevention of contamination
  • 2. Prevention of drops or rises in temperature
  • 3. An optimal view of the sensitive chamber load through wide-area heated inner glass door

Humid environment without condensation

The active humidity control ensures an ideal homogeneity of temperature, humidity as well as short recovery times after opening the door. It is practically a maintenance-free climate chamber.
In combination with the heating on all six sides, including a heated inner glass door, it also minimises vaporisation in the interior and, thus, the risk of condensed water dripping onto the test object.
An aluminium thermal conductive layer supports optimum temperature distribution and serves as a heat accumulator in case of a temporary power failure.

Comfortable equipment for accelerated service life tests

To ensure that environmental tests and accelerated life tests such as 85/85 tests run reliably and safely, the humidity chamber HCP offers a wide range of comfort functions:
1. Standard feed-through on the rear panel
2. Battery-buffered ControlCOCKPIT (option)
3. Process runtime starts with SetpointWAIT function only when the setpoint temperature is reached
4. Alarm messages can be sent via e-mail or SMS with MobileALERT (option) and much more.

Temperature Humidity Working Range HCP

Not all climate chambers are the same. The humidity content of the chamber load, the ambient conditions and the respective temperature-humidity working range are decisive factors in the selection of the right appliance. In the adjacent diagram, you can see the possible temperature/humidity combinations for our humidity chambers HCP.

Within the respective temperature-humidity range, permanent operation is possible (at an ambient temperature of 22 °C ± 3 K, relative humidity < 50 %). Condensation may occur in the threshold range. To which extent depends on the humidity content of the chamber load and the ambient conditions.

Areas of Use

The Memmert HCP is built for accelerated life testing and environmental simulation at high temperature and high humidity. It suits testing to industrial standards where the combination of heat and moisture is the point. Typical applications include:

  • Accelerated life testing to IEC 60068-2-67
  • 85/85 tests (85 °C / 85 % rh) for electronics and semiconductors
  • Damp heat exposure to IEC 60068-2-78
  • Environmental simulation for electronic components and circuit boards
  • Corrosion testing of metallic materials and coatings
  • Testing of plastics and polymers under humid conditions
  • Storage stability testing of products and packaging
  • Quality control in the electronics, automotive and materials industries

Advantages

A humid environment with no condensation on the test object
Heating on all six sides combined with a heated inner glass door minimises evaporation in the chamber and removes the risk of condensation dripping onto the test object. An aluminium thermal conducting layer distributes temperature evenly and acts as a heat accumulator during a brief power failure.

Active humidity control in both directions
Microprocessor-controlled active humidification and dehumidification from 20 to 95 % rh gives fast response and short recovery times after the door is opened. Humidity is supplied from demineralised water via a self-priming pump, and generating hot steam prevents bacterial growth in the system.

Capacitive humidity sensor
A high-grade capacitive humidity sensor measures accurately and displays relative humidity continuously. The integrated autodiagnostic system keeps operation reliable over long test runs.

Double doors as standard
A fully insulated steel door plus a heated inner glass door prevents condensation and temperature drop during inspection, while giving a clear view of the test objects.

SetpointWAIT — precise process time
The process time only starts once the set temperature has actually been reached. That ensures the test objects are exposed to the correct conditions for exactly the stated duration — which is what makes an 85/85 test reproducible.

Standard entry port included
A 40 mm silicone entry port in the rear panel (centre left) is standard on every model, ready for connecting sensors, cables and instrumentation to test objects inside the chamber.

Door position alarm included
A door position sensor with alarm and automatic fan shut-off is standard, preventing unnecessary loss of temperature and humidity when the door is left open.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

An 85/85 test exposes test objects to 85 °C and 85 % rh over an extended period — typically 1,000 hours — to accelerate ageing and expose weaknesses in electronic components. The HCP is built for exactly this: heating on all six sides with a heated glass door prevents condensation on the test object, SetpointWAIT ensures precise exposure time, and active humidity control holds 85 % rh steady throughout.

Demineralised water with a conductivity of 5–10 µS/cm and pH between 5 and 7, from an external tank. Ordinary tap water damages the humidity system and voids the warranty. For a connection to the building water supply, a central water supply kit is available with filter cartridges (ZWVR6) or without (ZWVR7, for demineralised water).

Option C2 gives battery backup to the entire display unit during a power failure. That keeps logging of all parameters unbroken and documentation complete even when the power goes — which matters on long 85/85 runs and for validation work where data integrity is required.

Yes. Two units of the same size can be stacked using a stacking kit (option B29744 for sizes 50 and 105, B42114 or B48129 for sizes 150 and 240). For sizes 150 and 240, stacking is only suitable in combination with the correct base stand.

Yes. The HCP suits testing to IEC 60068-2-67 (accelerated damp heat) and IEC 60068-2-78 (damp heat, steady state) within its temperature and humidity working range. For testing that requires temperatures below +18 °C or humidity below 20 % rh, other Memmert products are the better fit.
